hello! i am a new player, with a new character. my name is June, and i have brought along another Cookie guy. this is Elder Faerie, who some people may recognize from a previous event. OH NO. but he's not here to cause trouble, honest. at least, not yet... but your character is welcome to be hostile at him regardless!

Elder Faerie has been humanized, and there's more info about him in his app. please be wary because the app is full of SPOILERS. for those canonblind, let's just say he's not supposed to be around. it's kind of jarring! for him, and for the Cookiecast.

Database maintenance

Good morning, afternoon, and evening!

We're doing some database and other light server maintenance this weekend (upgrading the version of MySQL we use in particular, but also probably doing some CDN work.)

I expect all of this to be pretty invisible except for some small "couple of minute" blips as we switch between machines, but there's a chance you will notice something untoward. I'll keep an eye on comments as per usual.

So

This entire autumn sucked. Immensely.

So to take our mind off things and just... lighten up and be silly, Luca is generously allowing us to play Kings Game at the Watchtower at a date to be announced later.

The rules of the game are thus:

Everyone in the group draws a stick with a number on it, save one with a crown. The one with the crown is the King, and will issue a command for each number. The players cannot reveal their numbers to anyone, even the King, until their orders are given.

It's usually a drinking game but I'd prefer the first few rounds to not involve alcohol personally.


It goes on until.... we get tired of it I guess.

AWS outage

DW is seeing some issues due to today's Amazon outage. For right now it looks like the site is loading, but it may be slow. Some of our processes like notifications and journal search don't appear to be running and can't be started due to rate limiting or capacity issues. DW could go down later if Amazon isn't able to improve things soon, but our services should return to normal when Amazon has cleared up the outage.

Edit: all services are running as of 16:12 CDT, but there is definitely still a backlog of notifications to get through.

Edit 2: and at 18:20 CDT everything's been running normally for about the last hour.

Now that I have everyone's attention, I have some woooooonderful news to share! Yours Truly (The Ever Lovable Shadow Milk Cookie) has just gotten a proper research hall up and built! This is good news for all of you, because I have decided to be EVER so gracious and leave the bottom floor open to the public! Generous of me, yes I know, but who would I be to deny anyone their curiosity and thirst for Knowledge!

Yes, so this includes the libraries and classrooms where I will continue to hold my lessons on sign language! If you are NEW here, I teach that three times a week. We have people here who would greatly benefit from this place learning such a language so there's no reason to not!

If anyone is interested in learning MAGIC from me, I finally have the means to do it properly!

I've decided to move the Clown Union Meetings here as well, to the western classroom! This week we will be practicing SILLY WALKS.

One final note: If anything in my library goes missing or comes back damaged, just know there will be CONSEQUENCES and you do not want to find out what they are! Hee hee.
